Season 4 SPOILER CHAT!

topic posted Wed, February 20, 2008 - 2:58 PM by  Sonya
Time for another thread for those of us who don't mind having a wee bit of foreknowledge. Though, with our dear moderator's blessing, I'd like to keep MAJOR spoilers out...so, please, no full blow-by-blow accounts of episodes as yet unaired, or telegraphing the big stuff (deaths, game-changers).

Even we "in the know" like to have SOME surprises. I know that I read a spoiler too far leading up to the S.3 finale and wound up regretting it. So, for example, if there's a major death coming, announcing that would be fair game for this thread...just don't say who it actually is if you know.

That said, that leaves us all manner of territory to cover! Episode centricities, the remaining Oceanic 6 members, who else gets off the island but isn't in the O6, what surprise guests can we expect to see?

I'll start. I DO know who the remaining 2 of the Oceanic 6 are...and it's Jin & Sun, as will be revealed when they get a flashforward in ep. 4.7. Really makes ya wonder about Claire, given Des' prediction, now doesn't it.

I know there will be a major death..."an original 815er"...between this week's episode and episode 8. (Actually, before I heard the bit about it being "an original 815er" I was horrified that it could possibly be Desmond! *WHEW*) That said, I dunno who it is, and don't want to know before the reveal.

I know that we'll be seeing Libby again in ep. 8, which is speculated to be a Michael-centric episode. There's a double "tee-hee" if ever I saw one...

Upcoming known centricities:
4.4, "Eggtown", Kate flashforward (2/21)
4.5, "The Constant", Desmond flashback (2/29)
4.6, "The Other Woman", Juliet flashback (3/7)
4.7, "Ji Yeon", Jin/Sun flashforward (3/14)
4.8, "Meet Kevin Johnson", Michael flashback (4/24?, with 5 more eps to be produced and air starting 5/1)

With production on 5 more eps. starting 3/10, it's unlikely we'll get any decent spoilers about those eps until then, alas.

Lastly, where do the spoiler-minded find good Lost spoilers? Well, so glad you asked!

Boo hiss...this week is a Kate episode. Blarg! Where is Eggtown? Is that a real town's nickname....like Beantown...or am I making up Beantown? If not, where the heck is Beantown? I bet Eggtown is a Sawyer generated name for a town. Maybe the Others little house community. I can totally see him calling it that to Ben. haha!

Can't wait for more Desmond...I guess that means we won't find out anything about his and Sayid's trip on the heliocopter this week. Stupid Kate getting in the way!

Will the other woman be Kate loving up Jack? Or more from her dead ex-husband's mistress?

I heard on the Podcast from 9/20/07 that we'll find out whether or not Kate is pregnant with Sawyer's baby during the first four episodes of Season 4. Since we've already seen the first three episodes, I am wondering if we'll find out this week. Especially if it is a Kate-centered episode.

I really was surprised by the Eggtown preview - showed a lot. Kate visiting Hurley and Sawyer who were "roomates"? At first I thought it was a flash-forward, 'till the Dharma Wine came out.

I'm glad you started a spoiler chat, a safe place to discuss the previews in general...

      Supreme Mugwump:
<<Boo hiss...this week is a Kate episode. Blarg! Where is Eggtown?>>

I'm personally guessing it refers to Kate's ovaries, myself...there is NO way that Kate wasn't knocked up by Sawyer in the cage at the Hydra station, given what we know about the Island's effects on male potency.

      <<or am I making up Beantown?>>

Nope, Boston really is nicknamed "Beantown", for its famous Boston Baked Beans™. :-)

<<I bet Eggtown is a Sawyer generated name for a town. Maybe the Others little house community. I can totally see him calling it that to Ben. haha!>>

I think you may also be on to something there!

<<Can't wait for more Desmond...I guess that means we won't find out anything about his and Sayid's trip on the heliocopter this week. Stupid Kate getting in the way!>>

      You and me both, brotha! But you're wrong about us not learning anything about the helicopter. We do, in fact, learn one very important thing about Sayid and Des' helicopter flight this episode, which will set up Des' episode next week. >:}

<<Will the other woman be Kate loving up Jack? Or more from her dead ex-husband's mistress?>>

If you mean the episode title for 4.6, I think that's a play on Juliet being both Jack's possible "other woman" from Kate, and Juliet's former status as an Other woman. That said, I suspect that 4.4 tonight is going to be a real downer for 'shippers. (And GOOD! FUCK 'EM! Truly, is there anything more annoying than people viewing a deep, rich, complex show like Lost through the lense of something as mundane as a soap opera love triangle? Yeesh! OK...going to my happy place...)

      Andalee:
<<I heard on the Podcast from 9/20/07 that we'll find out whether or not Kate is pregnant with Sawyer's baby during the first four episodes of Season 4. That's a big 10-4 on that one. Methinks (based on speculation only) the "him" to whom Kate referred in the S.3 finale was actually her kid. I can't imagine a relatively new mom wanting to leave her kid unsupervised any longer than *absolutely* necessary.

      Joanna:
<<I really was surprised by the Eggtown preview - showed a lot. Kate visiting Hurley and Sawyer who were "roomates"? At first I thought it was a flash-forward, 'till the Dharma Wine came out.>>

Well, you mean the preview or the various "sneak peeks"? 'Cause the latter has been a new wrinkle this season. It seems that ABC has been releasing anywhere from 4-6 little ~1.5 minute snippets of each episode to the spoiler hungry (I usually catch them on the "Watch With Kristin" column at E! Online or on DarkUFO's spoiler section).

Some MIGHTY interesting things in those snippets. "Eggtown" could also be a reference to the fact that Locke is seen serving Ben eggs in on eof the sneak peeks, while Ben (again) gets the psychological better of Locke.

<<I'm glad you started a spoiler chat, a safe place to discuss the previews in general...>>

Happy to! It had to be done. ;-)

BTW, there's a VERY juicy interview between Darlton and Entertainment Weekly's resident Lostologist, Doc Jensen posted over at DarkUFO...

      Link: spoilerslost.blogspot.com/2008/...n.html

      Among the tidbits:

      • Episode 5 deals with elements of time travel.
      • In episode 5, Lapidus will explain why the satellite phone can't contact in the outside world.
      • By the end of the season, we'll know who was in the coffin as well as what's happened to Jack to make him want to go back.
      • No answers coming on Jacob and the cabin this season, although we may see it again.
      • More details on The Purge, Adam & Eve and another station are coming, but not this season.
      • Ben's List for Sayid is linked to who placed the wreckage of Flight 815.

...but there's a lot more good stuff there! And more to come in Doc Jensen's article in the next EW.

(And, for the record, <stephencolbert>I CALLED IT!</stephencolbert> I'd been saying all along since Naomi first mentioned that 815 supposedly was found with a full compliment of corpses "near Bali" that it was a planted fake, and not anything more supernatural than that. *Does happy Ockham's Razor dance*)

Oooo...lovely teaser-spoilers from Damon & Carlton in the 3/10-3/16 print issue of TV Guide...here they are as summarized on Doc Arzt's blog:

      • We'll learn why Sayid is Ben's paid assassin
      • Why Jack has descended into a tormented diet of pills and booze
      • This season ends with the O6 getting off the Island
      • Cuse: The Jack-Kate situation remains unresolved and probably will be for a while.
      • Lindelof says that we haven't seen the last of Kate-Sawyer this season--not by a long shot
      • Lindelof: It's about how many years elapsed between what we're watching on the Island and the FF's.
      • Cuse: There are some growth issues when you go on or off the island, but I can't say more about that.
      • We may learn in the March 20 episode (4.08 Meet Kevin Johnson) whether Michael ever reached the mainland, if he's come back to rescue the other survivors, whether he went home. (per Cuse, which Damon qualifies as we'll learn most of those.)

The video previews on Dark UFO were so cool.... I am so excited for Thursday. I am happy to see the Others have a spooky presence again.. I totally missed them.

Also, Ben is FANTASTIC with Locke... I love Ben! What a maniputainer!

Yeah the sneak previews are awesome! So Ben is right where he wants to be, eh? Isn't that what Miles said?
          • Re: Season 4 SPOILER CHAT!

            Tue, March 4, 2008 - 5:08 PM
Yup. It sure is. Miles wants to be near Ben, Ben wants to be manipulating Locke.

I was also jazzed as hell to read Damon Lindelof mentioning specifically that Nestor "Alpert" Carbonell was available again. I really hope we see him sooner rather than later. I also find myself very much hoping that they can land him as a series regular for however long they want to keep him alive (meaning hopefully all of it..I like Alpert a lot so far! ;-) ).

<<Also, Ben is FANTASTIC with Locke... I love Ben! What a maniputainer! >>

The screen fairly crackles when both these two are on it!

And speaking of heavies, though, did anyone else notice that Alan Dale, aka Charles Widmore, is in the guest credits for The Other Woman? What's more, Juliet's flashback is going to be taking place entirely on-island...so either Widmore's been to the Island, or he'll be communicated with by the freighter in the present day narrative. Either way, mighty intriguing, no? ;-)

            Tue, March 4, 2008 - 5:25 PM
Cool! I have always been convinced that Widmore was responsible for getting Desmond trapped on that island. It will be nice to see if this gets played out anytime soon.

Well, I'm guessing that'll take a step forward THIS week, despite it being a Juliet ep., since Alan Dale who plays Papa Widmore is in the guest credits this week. ;-)

I saw that and forgot to post here...my bad. Good on ya for that, lisa!

But we're already starting to get some trickles in on the episodes that start shooting next week...

Casting call info from DarkUFO re: Ep 4.9:

      ISHMAEL BAKIR
Middle Eastern, 40s, should have a slight natural accent, a high-ranking businessman who carries himself with a sense of quiet menace. We get the impression that this distinguished man has the capacity for great violence.

      DESK CLERK
African (Tunisian), female, any age, French-speaking. Cold to some guests, but gracious to the wealthy. MUST HAVE A BRITISH OR FRENCH ACCENT

      DOORMAN
50s, British, white, distinguished. Uniformed doorman works for a luxury building.

      BEDOUINS
Two Arabic men, any age, MUST BE ABLE TO SPEAK ARABIC. Stunts required - Must be able to ride a horse.

      Plus, from Watch With Kristin:

Fisher Stevens (Minkowski) said he would be returning to Hawaii to resume filming his role on Lost.

..."Tunisian" + the dead Minkowski sounds like Charlotte's back-story to me. What do you guys think?

they do need to explain how that crew got recruited and why they were picked for the job
        • Re: Season 4 SPOILER CHAT!

          Wed, March 5, 2008 - 1:37 PM
I'm not so sure of that...I think the freighter crew is just that: the crew of this particular freighter, chartered by Abaddon representing undisclosed (but probably Widmore-related) people with the express intent of getting the hand-picked team of Charlotte, Daniel, Miles, Naomi, and Frank onto the Island for an as-yet-unknown ultimate purpose. Nothing about the crew actually ON the freighter so far has struck me as out of the ordinary for a bunch of people who've a) just watched their comms officer and another crewman go nuts then die of cerebral hemorrhaging, and b) had a mole wreck all their gear allowing communications with the outside world.

I think the "Persons of Interest" here are the remaining "Freighter Four" (Daniel, Charlotte, Miles, and Frank), Ben's spy, and the mysterious Abaddon (and his bossses). Everyone else on the freighter just strikes me as side-players. ('Cept that Regina HAS to do some kind of kick-ass stunt to justify the casting of Zoë Bell to play her. ;-) )

I could, of course, be wrong. I have been before with this show and I no doubt will be again!

Latest spoilers, speculation, and one of his trademark "asterisk quizzes" from Ausiello at tvguide.com:

Question: I've been in London for four weeks and have dropped your name multiple times to Brits obsessed with Lost. Surely, recruiting overseas Ausholes earns the name of the person on the freighter! — Elizabeth

Ausiello: Actually, it earns you something even better: some exclusive casting prattle! I have it on good authority that Nestor Carbonell has inked a deal to reprise his role as ageless island dweller Richard in at least one of this season's final five episodes. In confirming the news, exec producer Carlton Cuse (i.e., the good authority I spoke of earlier) described the former Cane thesp as "a tremendous actor" whose "return will lead to some very interesting revelations."

Question: I need to know who is on that boat on Lost! — Kelly

Ausiello: Well, Kelly, there’s Sayid and Desmonds (1996 and 2004 editions) and the corpse of Fisher Stevens and some guy named Keamey… and I know that’s not who you mean, but the identity of Ben’s boat buddy is one scoop that Team Darlton is not letting slip, at least not until tomorrow night. In the meantime, try this Lost head-scratcher on for size: I have it on good authority that an upcoming, post-strike episode features both a pair of Arabic-speaking, horseback-riding Bedouins and a luxury doorman of British extraction. Without knowing whether it’s a flashback or flash-forward, whose episode could that be? I had an extra bowl of crazy this morning, so I’m going with a consciousness-imploding guess: Charles Widmore, who is: A) a shadowy figure who has been coming into focus in recent weeks, B) a rich British dude and C) perhaps interested in those polar bear skeletons Charlotte found in the deserts of Tunisia, no? Any more sane guesses?

Question: Any Lost news? — Franci

Ausiello: You know that series-regular death I alluded to a few weeks back? Well, tomorrow night's the night! But riddle me this, Lost fans: When is a death not a death, but a brand-new mystery all its own? Meanwhile, I was going to close this week's column by revealing the identity of the remaining members of Lost's super-cool clique, the Oceanic Six, but most of you seem to have it already figured out: *o* *a* *** **e **l* **** *i***.

    Hi everyone!

Once again, the spoilers page over at DarkUFO got official ABC "sneak peeks" for next week literally immediately after this week's ep ended.

    Enjoy!

    spoilerslost.blogspot.com/2008/...k.html

Also, there's a rumor as to the nature of the 5 eps that just started filming. It's not confirmed, but if true would mean it's going to be one hell of a ride for the rest of S.4.

Here's what I'm hearing (from DarkUFO Lost Rumors, trimmed some by me)...

    Episode 9 - "Bakir" - Sayid Centric
Apparently this episode will be a Sayid flash forward that will show what event was used to convince Sayyid to work for Ben.

Episode 10 - "The Outlier" - Ben Centric.
Ben flashback that will focus on filling in most of the blanks on his time on the island. Most of the episode will be spent in flashbacks not in real time. Apparently it will show his actions right before the purge, an earlier encounter with Jacob, and the beginning of the pregnancy problem.

    Episode 11 - "Untitled" - Locke Centric
Locke will learn how his father ended up on the island and this episode will show the re-appearance of the rest of the others who have been in hiding. Harper will be in this episode and i guess it is now safe to assume to Alpert will be in this episode.

Season Finale - Ep 12/13 - Jack Centric
This will be a Jack flashforward showing how he got from his state of mind in Eggtown/the beginning of the end to how he ended up in through the looking glass. We will learn who ended up in the coffin and will jack's beginning efforts to come back to the island mirror the realtime events of him leaving the island with the rest of the "oceanic 6".

        << Wow! I am excited about 9, 10 and 11!!>>

Oh, I'm excited about the finale as well. The flashforwards have made Jack interesting, dramatically, in a way that he just has never been to me previously (or Matthew Fox as an actor, though that hasn't really changed :-P ). Also, I strongly suspect that we'll be seeing more than just Jack in his flashforward for the finale (assuming this is all correct, of course). I suspect that most if not all of the O6 will be involved in that as well.

Never let's forget that Through the Looking Glass kicked beaucoup ass! :-D

That said, of course I'd love to see another Sayid FF, and flashes that give us moreinsight into what's going on in th seriously bizarre places that are Locke's and Ben's respective heads. *chuckles*
  • Death update

    Wed, March 19, 2008 - 1:28 PM
According to DarkUFO's spoiler section and Doc Arzt, the death this week will be one of 3 characters:

    1. Claire
    2. Miles
    3. Karl

Both Ken Leung (Miles) and Blake Bashoff (Karl) took jobs on stage when they didn't know how long the strike was going to be. Claire still seems to be everyone's odds-on favorite. What do you guys think? Discuss.
    • Re: Death update

      Wed, March 19, 2008 - 3:45 PM
Claire is useless at this point. We've seen her story, I vote for her. Karl hasn't added much but maybe he could. I don't think it would be that major if he died. Doesn't seem like he would warrant all the lead up advertising they have been doing. Miles has more story but then again I thought the same about Naomi before they offed her.
      • Re: Death update

        Wed, March 19, 2008 - 3:53 PM
I think Claire too. Her story has been played out. Wait - she and Jack are related, right? and they don't know it yet? is that fact or just something I am remembering wrong?
        • Re: Death update

          Wed, March 19, 2008 - 9:40 PM
I would much rather it be Miles or Karl than Claire. There is more they could do with Claire's story. Like I have said before hook her up with Hurley, fitting as he was Charlie's best friend. I just love Claire's character always have and hate to see the baby lose his mama!!!!!
