Windmore must have captured someone from the island before all this went down. How else would he have know where everything is...all the stations, the Others village, etc... hummmm.
I'm going to throw down a theory right now, people.
Stand back!
Ben's little childhood girl friend is not only the one who told Windmore everything about the island but is also Penny's mom. Oh yea. Smoke on those apples for a while!

Re: How does Widmore know where to send "the Boys" Theory exclusive!
Fri, May 16, 2008 - 10:16 AMUmm...we did see video of Widmore beating up one of Ben's agents. I doubt he was doing it just for fun.
Plus the Orchid is a Dharma station, and Dharma info is available for anyone with enough money to seek it out.
None of this discredits your theory, I'm just saying there are less far fetched ways for Widmore to get the info he needs. -

Re: How does Widmore know where to send "the Boys" Theory exclusive!
Fri, May 16, 2008 - 11:49 AMI think Widmore is the leader who used to lead the Others. The one who Ben said made the decision to kill all the DHARMA folks. I think that is what Widmore meant when he said all that Ben had he took from him. Only I think somehow he wasn't an always present hands on kind of leader which is how Ben managed to get rid of him. And Ben probably moved the island when he did get rid of him. -

Fri, May 16, 2008 - 1:55 PMWell, sure if you guys are going to bring logic into the discussion then both your answers are good! (-:
I had forgotten about Dharma having once been operational and having paperwork and all that jazz! That is too true. And it saddens me! -

Heh heh.
Your theory is inspiring, and it reminds me of this quote by Albert Einstein: "Imagination is more important than knowledge".

This is a good theory. Widmore doesn't seem like the kind of guy to lead the Others, just not natural enough or perhaps not Zen enough, but that doesn't mean he wasn't once. It would explain a lot without being far-fetched. -

Re: How does Widmore know where to send "the Boys" Theory exclusive!
Fri, May 16, 2008 - 2:57 PMI agree.
I can see him in charge of dharma even more so and totally see him as having been the one to kill off his own project in order to take it over. With Ben as his direct link to do it....and then Ben betrayed him and hid the island. -

Re: How does Widmore know where to send "the Boys" Theory exclusive!
Fri, May 16, 2008 - 4:39 PMI'm also intrigued by this idea of Charles Widmore as the deposed leader of the Hostiles/Others...but I don't buy it.
There are too many contradictions there. First off, even though it isn't completely canonical, The Lost Experience leads us to believe that the Widmore Corporation was working with the Hanso Foundation...not something that a former leader of The (then-)Hostiles would do given their antagonism toward the DHARMA Initiative. Then, there's also the question of Penny...if he was raising her in her youth (assuming, of course, that it wasn't all boarding schools and nannies) and he was the Big Kahuna on the Island, wouldn't she have been raised there and not had to "do some research" to learn about it?
I'm much more inclined to think that Widmore and Hanso (who, lest we forget was an arms dealer before he was a would-be world-saving philanthropist and patron of questionable science) were using the DHARMA Initiative as a way to harness the Island for their own purposes and that they (or at least Widmore) saw it as "theirs" because of that.
I could, of course, be wrong... -

As with Abbadon and the owing, I see Widmore's true colors come out in the statement that the Island belongs to him. Ben never says that. He's bitchy about how he's been treated, but he never says the Island owes him, nor that he owns it.

Re: How does Widmore know where to send "the Boys" Theory exclusive!
Fri, May 16, 2008 - 11:47 PMBut what if Widmore is Hanso, and long ago was the leader of the 'hostiles' before they had anyone to be especially hostile to, but the break in philosophy occurred over the D.I., and such as, then that could work. -
