I missed the first season of Lost and didn't want to start halfway through, so I've been sitting back waiting for the right time to start watching on DVD. Well, that time was this summer. I just completed a marathon run through of the first 5 seasons in two months and am now fully caught up.
What made the show particularly fun for me was having grown up in Hawai'i, I've been to a lot of the places where scenes were filmed. Particularly Kualoa Ranch. My brother and I went to high school and were good friends with a guy named Andrew Morgan, whose family owns and operates the ranch. Andrew is now the general manager of the property. The last time my brother and I visited (a couple years ago before I started watching Lost), he took us on a private tour of filming locations. I took pictures. :)

Just thought you guys might enjoy it.

I wonder, are there any plans you know of via your chum for Kualoa Ranch to preserve some of the LOST sets in situ and do tours after the series wraps? If I understand correctly then the sheep farmer in New Zealand on whose land the Hobbit village was built for LOTR does tours there of that site (mainly consisting of facades on the hillsides). -

Tue, September 8, 2009 - 3:44 PMI don't know for sure, but I'm pretty certain he will. Kualoa Ranch has hosted film crews for a number of movies (Jurassic Park, George of the Jungle, Mighty Joe Young, Pearl Harbor, and many others). There are official tours that take you to various filming sites on the ranch, and Lost-specific tours which go through not only Kualoa but other Lost locations on the island.
Another fun part was seeing The Others' encampment. That was filmed at Camp Erdman on the NW shore of the island. I used to go to cub scout camp there. :)
I'd love to visit New Zealand one day and visit The Shire. Not as much for the LOTR location, but just because it was so freakin' beautiful!
