Think you know LOST? Prove it!
This was an ad that was on the screen when I just signed onto this tribe. I havent actually checked it out yet. I bet Bundt might do well. I wonder if there is some kind of contest that some people would get recognition for "winning." That would be awesome if someone from this tribe was recognized and could plug Tribe when they accept their award. : )

Re: LOST Trivia Challenge
Thu, May 21, 2009 - 9:27 AMI just went to the main page of this:
lost-trivia-challenge.ugo.com/
It's just a trivia quiz. Looks like they put up a new one each week. Each quiz is 10 questions. They are somewhat obscure. I got 4/10 correct. Doesn't look like there are prizes or fame to be gained...just something fun to do for 5 minutes.
:)
Thanks for the link! -

Eibhilin did better than me on the trivia quiz, since I gave up in disgust after the first question. I think the question is seriously flawed. It asks "How many Dharma stations are on/in proximity to the Island?" and presents a series of numeric options, but IMHO none of the options presented is, in fact, correct.
FLAWED-QUIZ SPOILER ALERT: The trivia quiz "correct" answer follows below this spoiler alert, so do not scroll down to read it if you want to take the quiz and do battle with question #1 yourself before seeing the supposed correct answer (according to the quiz-makers) along with my critique of how none of the options provided actually fits.

According to the quiz, the correct answer is "10. The Tempest, the Staff, the Swan, the Orchid, the Looking Glass, the Hydra, the Flame, the Arrow, the Pearl and the Lamp Post."
Now, someone please explain to me how the Lamp Post, located in a basement below a church in Los Angeles, can reasonably be considered "...on/in proximity to the Island"? The actual correct answer to the question, as posed, should be 9, not 10, unless there is something I am missing. I stopped taking the quiz after the first question since this sort of basic error (and subsequent assertion of disinformation as accurate) is rather hard to indulge.

Re: LOST Trivia Challenge
Thu, May 21, 2009 - 5:29 PMAll of these quizzes are flawed. Part of the problem is poorly formed questions (vague, inaccurate, etc.), and part of the problem is that the question was formed in previous seasons, so new info throws everything off.
When I joined Facebook, I added the "Addicted to Lost" app and spent way too much time taking the trivia challenge, which actually has quite a lot of questions. I did pretty well, except for the color questions (what color shirt was Jack wearing when....).
But there is always a difficulty in creating true trivia questions. Let's take K's example. "You all, everybody" is way too simple, since anyone who watched the show in the first season will know this. On the other hand, "what is Charlie's middle name and what historical figure shared the name?" is obscure enough that even I had trouble with it. How do you find the balance?
And then, as Steven points out, we could debate a lot of the answers. -

Re: LOST Trivia Challenge
Thu, May 21, 2009 - 11:21 AMMaybe we could do a LOST trivia challenge of our own? No prizes per se, but it might be fun to exchange knowledge and info and see what we've collectively missed or caught.
I'll start just in case anyone is interested in playing.
What was the song that caused DRIVEshaft to find fame and fortune?
And just for fun (and also because it ties into another conspiracy theory) what was Charlie's middle name? What other famous person shared that name and what was he famous for?

"You, all, everybody" -was that the song? I'm blanking on the middle(earth) name, though- maybe "Took" or "Proudfoot"? ; ) -

Re: LOST Trivia Challenge
Thu, May 21, 2009 - 12:19 PMRight song!!!! Wrong middle name though. The character of Charlie happened to have the middle name "Heironymus"...as in Heironyous Bosch the painter of 'The Garden of Earthly Delights" (dated in the mid 1500's).
