Any news on upcoming Season 4 centricities?

topic posted Fri, April 4, 2008 - 1:54 AM by
I'm not one for spoilers, but I do always enjoy knowing whose stories are coming up~

I think Xanadu posted a list of centricities for the first 8 episodes that turned out to be 100% correct, but I haven't seen Xanadu around here lately.

Any word on whose stories we're gonna hear in the next 5 eps?

Maybe Sonya knows...

?

    There are currently a lot of mixed reports, though.

    Here's what's currently known by or reported to by the fine folks at Lostpedia via myriad sources:

    4.9, The Shape of Things to Come, Ben and/or Sayid-centric flash-forward. It looks like both characters will be appearing pretty heavily, so hard to say who's truly centric
    4.10, Something Nice Back Home, conflicting reports of Jack- and Kate-centric flash-forward...and of an appearance by Christian Shephard(!!!)
    4.11, title Unknown, Locke-centric flashback featuring his childhood and an enigmatic appearance by Richard Alpert (yay!)
    4.12, title unknown, centricity unknown
    4.13, title unknown, centricity unknown...also unknown if Finale=12+13 or if 13 is 2 hours split up over 2 weeks.

    I don't have any better info than that right now, tho.

      as I have been insisting for more than a year.... CHRISTIAN SHEPHARD NEVER ACTUALLY DIED!!!!! He's TOTALLY still alive.

      I have dozens of components to support this theory, but here's the most important: recall in Jack's flash-forward at the end of season 3 (at the time, we did not realize it was a flash-forward), the hotshot new boss doctor is confronting Jack on his alcoholism, behavior, and overattachment to the mom car-crash-victim. And Jack says to him, "You go get my father! You go get him right now, and we'll see if he's drunker than me!"

      okay, I'm paraphrasing. But still, if someone is dead, would you go around saying "You go get him right now, he's drunker than me"?

        <<as I have been insisting for more than a year.... CHRISTIAN SHEPHARD NEVER ACTUALLY DIED!!!!! He's TOTALLY still alive.>>

        So sorry...thank you for calling!

        This has been debunked by Damon and Carlton themselves:

        lostpedia.com/wiki/Christ...Reappearance

        Jack's reference to him in the flash-forward portion of "Through the Looking Glass" was intentionally misleading on the writers' part and, ultimately was just the crass maundering of a suicidal hop-head.

        Consequently there are only 3 explanations for seeing Christian Shephard at any point after his death in Sydney:

        1) In flashback
        2) As a corpse
        3) As an Island manifestation

        It is #3 which explains Jack's on-Island sightings of him, and his appearances in Jacob's cabin and to Vincent in the mobisode, "So It Begins".

        That said, I suspect we might see at least one example of #2...Jack did have Christian's corpse with him on Oceanic 815. It was why he was in Sydney to begin with. It could very easily be that one of the first things the O6 does upon returning to civilization is to bury Christian Shephard's body.

          Debunked with evasive caveats does not equal debunked!!! Particularly with these writers.

          I wish I could hear that 4/20/07 podcast, but it's no longer up on ABC. I'm unconvinced. The people at LOSTpedia do fine work, but they are even acknowledging that this is "qualified" statement, and they can't yet explain the inconsistencies. Are we 100% sure that LOSTpedia has NEVER been head-faked by Cuse/Lindelof trickery? Surely there is some degree of head-fake going on here.

          The authors of that LOSTpedia entry seem confident that Christian's "dead but still shows up on the island" status is analogous to Yemi's. I wonder about this -- I think it's more analogous to Nikki & Paolo, who were also "dead In terms of actually physically corporally in existence" -- (e.g., no pulse and turning green) until the moment they opened their eyes and realized they were being buried alive. That whole "spider venom" thing that Arzt described is central to my theory. And I would say that's the #4 possibility on your list.

          If you're skeptical about this theory, then I'm not even going to go into my "Christian Shephard is the architect of the plane crash scheme" theory. (I AM sending it to USA Today, though!) But I don't see anything here to dissuade me. The podcast might, admittedly, truly debunk this. They play coy sometimes, but I don't think they lie. I wish someone actually did transcripts of the podcasts as opposed to brief summaries. Christian in the whispers, and appearing in the cabin, admittedly, hurts my case here. I would assume only dead people can do that stuff. But we don't know for sure what regulates the ability to whisper or appear in cabins...

          I guess we'll know for sure on May 1!!! (MAYBE....)

            I think the "Meet Kevin Johnson" podcast ( ll.media.abc.com/podcast/a...604375.mp3 ) may clear this up a bit for you.

            They play 'word association' between a name, and whether or not that person is alive, dead, apparition, animal, etc. For Yemi, Damon says "Monster". Later on, when talking about Kate's horse, they mention that the writers have a headshot gallery to keep track of the characters with three categories: Alive, Dead, and "Undead". The only ones under Undead are Christian Shepherd, Yemi and Kate's Horse.

            Ok, I take it back, that may not clear up anything :)

              So Ben's mother isn't in the undead category? What about Sayid's cat? And how about Libby?

                Here was the full list of questions and answers in the "WTF *was* that?" portion of the podcast in question (courtesy, as so often, of the fine people at Lostpedia):

                * Ben's mother Emily = Apparition
                * Sawyer's wild boar = Animal
                * Medusa Spider = Monster
                * Hurley bird = No comment
                * Dave = Apparition/figment of imagination
                * Yemi = Monster
                * Mikhail's cat Nadia = animal and coincidence
                * Walt = Walt the person is human, but there are apparitions of Walt that may be monster related
                * Boone in Locke's dream = dream
                * Jack = They say he's an apparition and are kidding about it.
                * Kate's horse = Undead

                  Medusa Spider = Monster? Interesting.

                  Ben's dead mother appearing and talking to him was an apparition but not the same as when other people's dead relatives appeared to them? The line between apparition and monster seems fuzzy. Which one is Libby when she appears to Michael? I am assuming apparition since he wasn't actually on the island and that was more of a guilt thing.
  • wow, You're the last person I'd expect to start this tread and not mark it spoiler.
    thankfully I didn't read beyond the first message.
    • It's an old thread, someone revived it, the word spoiler is in the first message of the thread, and besides all that, I don't think anyone really considers centricities to be spoilers. The info in this thread is pretty much the kind of stuff you'd find out in a TV Guide or ABC pre-episode airing blurb.

      Of course, if you're not reading anything else in this thread, then you'll probably not see my reply, so really, I could have just written:

      "I just pooped in my pants."
