Wow, this episode blew me away. They are really starting to give a lot of information away now. Next week is going to blow our minds I am sure. I was so happy to see Sayid reunited with Nadia. I was glad to know Jack finally got the truth about Claire but how hard was it for him not to show emotion???? He is not allowed to let on he knew Claire at all.
There was just so much in this episode. Hurley getting the car with the bad numbers was freaky!!!
Loved it when Sawyer said to Jack "Hold on there Shaggy. Not going to let you die alone." That was perfect!!!
And can't wait to see more of the Orchid station.
So much to process. And Richard the ageless wonder is back - hooray!!!!

Re: There's No Place Like Home - episode 5/15 discussion
Fri, May 16, 2008 - 1:24 AMWow wow wow. I was SO STOKED about that episode. I could not believe we actually saw a boatload of Losties leave the island - some of whom we know really get to leave!!
And I got my fix of some Hot Other Action! How cool and old-school was it to see Richard walk out and Kate and Jack are all gun-slingin' and then -not so fast!- they are surrounded by Bona Fide Others. I loved it! I missed that!!
BEN also.. Ben is starting to actually make me sexually aroused for some reason. I feel it's wrong, but I can't help it. I love him now. "I believe you're looking for me?" Sigh. -

Re: There's No Place Like Home - episode 5/15 discussion
Fri, May 16, 2008 - 4:19 AMAnother great episode! Some of the pieces of the puzzle are finally coming together (I'm not holding my breath though, there will most likely be more mysteries revealed before the season is out to make us ponder endlessly until LOST returns).
The reunion with the Oceanic 6 survivors and their families was quite a moment: the emotion, poor Kate standing all alone clutching a baby that is not hers, the staged press conference, Nadia showing up for Sayid, Sun telling the lie that Jin died when the plane crashed... I am dying to hear about the briefing the Oceanic 6 had to go through to get their stories straight. What deal was struck to keep the real events on the down low and why. What really happened to Jin? How did Hurley escape Ben and Locke and get on that rescue plane?? And Jack finally hearing about Claire being his sister...whoa.
I think we also got to see the beginnings of how our survivors (Jack and Hurley in particular) started to spiral into what they became after the rescue. Jack knowing he spent all that time with Claire never really knowing thei relationship and now (my guess) she's dead, coupled with the hiding of the truth would certainly explain him turning to pills and booze. And Hurley, seeing the numbers appear in odd places (ie: the mileage on his birthday present form Dad) would help him begin the slip into "madness". The gap is closing. Past, present and future events are coming together...
And I'll agree with Joanna...Ben is getting rather studly all of a sudden. LOL And Hellooooo, Richard! I think things will be mighty interesting now that he is back on Island time...
2 weeks til the season finale and I can hardly wait! -

Re: There's No Place Like Home - episode 5/15 discussion
Fri, May 16, 2008 - 7:29 AMSo, I guess if Keamy dies then the boat explodes. That would make sense. He was probably going to have to kill everyone on the boat that might let slip anything about Windmore any way. This way if he goes, there would be no loose ends.

Fri, May 16, 2008 - 8:35 AMSun !!!! You go girl,
Kickin Daddy's butt where he works really raises you in my esteem.
Obviously everyone who made it to the boat doesn't survive or actually get off the island. Who are the two that the Oceanic 6 say lived and then died, and why? -

Re: There's No Place Like Home - episode 5/15 discussion
Fri, May 16, 2008 - 3:56 PMbest episode of the season. It had everything. it's one of those rare lost episodes that has every character in it. -

Re: There's No Place Like Home - episode 5/15 discussion
Fri, May 16, 2008 - 4:28 PMOne thing I've seen mentioned in a number of the recaps (on DarkUFO, The Tail Section and DocArzt) is Daniel's reaction to the conversation overheard on the phone. Everyone seems to think he's reacting to the mention of the Orchid Station. Seemed to me his reaction was to the opening of the second protocol and the implication that Keamy is "going to torch the Island."
And I still want to know why he and Charlotte and Miles were sent to the Island in the first place. A thought occurs: Abbadon sent them, like he sent Locke. What does that guy want?

<<Wow, this episode blew me away.>>
You and me both! I've been getting so breathless watching Lost lately, it's a wonder I don't asphyxiate! :-D
<<They are really starting to give a lot of information away now.>>
Yes and no...they really didn't tell us too terribly much we didn't know before. For my money, the biggest revelation of the night was that flash-forward pregnant Sun wrested control of Paik Heavy Industries from dear ol' dad, giving him a delicious and well-deserved verbal smackdown to boot! Sooooo satisfying. >:}
The details of the Oceanic cover-story were also rather interesting!
<<There was just so much in this episode. Hurley getting the car with the bad numbers was freaky!!!>>
Oh, HELL yeah! Looks like Hurley's the first of the O6 to realize they never should have left. On the Island, Hurley'd managed to shed his curse...but now, it's baa-aaaack!
<<I was glad to know Jack finally got the truth about Claire but how hard was it for him not to show emotion???? He is not allowed to let on he knew Claire at all.>>
Yup...clearly there's *some* kind of Faustian bargain in place there or you just know that Action-Jack and Sayid would have been using the press conference to screw Oceanic and get the world over to that Island to see the weirdness and shed light on its secrets.
That said...OMFG...Matthew Fox actually *acted*! I fear I shall faint for I am overcome with the vapors. You actually got to see Jack Shephard's brain go "tilt" at the info that Claire is his half-sister and Aaron his nephew. Mebbe O'Quinn or Emerson sat the boy down and gave him a lesson or something. :-P
<<Oh and I forgot to mention the explosives on the boat, what's up with that?>>
I think it's pretty clear that the C4 is set to detonate if the device strapped to Keamy's arm stops transmitting that he's got a pulse. That would also explain the radio-frequency interference preventing the reef-detector from working. Boat gonna go BOOM next ep., I'm all but sure!
@Yuni
<<I am a bit perplexed about how old they are trying to say Aaron is.>>
Actually, did you notice how Ms. Decker (Michelle Forbes, the Oceanic flack) cut in when they started prying too much about Aaron? This is clearly known to be a weak link in the story, given that Aaron is actually a few months older than he would have been per the official story.
This may actually be the first chink in the armor of that story...someone I read somewhere suggested the idea that in S.5 or 6 we might see a movement to debunk the O6's story...that it might even involve Walt, who would know a thing or two about it. I think that's a dramatically interesting idea. It could also be a bit of a goad to get any "unconverted" O6 (like Kate or Sayid) back to the Island if public opinion gets whipped up against them in addition to all the other signs from the Island that it wants them back.
Next week is going to rock the fucking house! :-D -

Re: There's No Place Like Home - episode 5/15 discussion
Sat, May 17, 2008 - 8:37 AMClarification needed please!
I thought Clair's mom had died. I was pretty sure I remembered her dying. I remember her being in the hospital in a comma, but then she died about the time Clair got pregnant. Right? -
-
Re: There's No Place Like Home - episode 5/15 discussion
Sat, May 17, 2008 - 8:41 AMnevermind!
From Lostpedia:
"Claire decided that she could not go through with (taking her off life support), and Carole was kept alive for many years. She was still in the coma when Claire became pregnant and boarded Oceanic Flight 815"
So I wonder what woke her up? Or if she really is awake! -

Re: There's No Place Like Home - episode 5/15 discussion
Sat, May 17, 2008 - 11:13 AMOoooh, creepy!
Nice plot thickener! :)
It does seem like a big stretch for a woman just a few months out of a coma to fly from Australia to the US for the funeral of an ex-lover whose body isn't even present at the event! Not impossible, but a stretch.
Was she live or was she Memorex? (Er, uh, Smokey...)
:) -

Sat, May 17, 2008 - 12:26 PMclaire's mom never died, she was just in a coma for a while. -

Re: There's No Place Like Home - episode 5/15 discussion
Sat, May 17, 2008 - 12:36 PMUnderstood, and yet, traveling halfway around the world is generally not high on the "to do" list of persons a few months out of a coma at most.
She's probably alive and well and real and all that, but it's still a creepy turn of events. -
-
Re: There's No Place Like Home - episode 5/15 discussion
Sat, May 17, 2008 - 5:28 PMMaybe it's just one of those plot points that they said they were abandoning after the strike.

Re: There's No Place Like Home - episode 5/15 discussion
Sat, May 17, 2008 - 5:57 PMI thought it was weird that Jack said that ten months ago he wrote down what he wanted to say to his Dad. Ten months? I am starting to get really confused by the time line. Especially since Aaron looked exactly the same at the funeral as he did when they were rescued. -
-
Re: There's No Place Like Home - episode 5/15 discussion
Sat, May 17, 2008 - 8:17 PMYeah, there was definitely a lot of action with some explanation left out in this last episode as far as the flash forward is concerned. Hopefully we'll get some more of the story as we see the events that lead to the rescue of the O6. -
-
This is the maximum depth. Additional responses will not be threaded.
Re: There's No Place Like Home - episode 5/15 discussion
Mon, May 19, 2008 - 1:07 PMwasn't the episode before the finale supposed to be a Claire one? too bad they had to leave out some stuff this season. -
-
Re: There's No Place Like Home - episode 5/15 discussion
Mon, May 19, 2008 - 3:54 PMLeo, that's what I thought too! There was originally an episode towards the end of this season whose description was "Claire flash forward." Seems we lost some story there! -
-
Re: There's No Place Like Home - episode 5/15 discussion
Tue, May 20, 2008 - 7:38 PMWell, we do know for a fact that we lost 2 episodes. Well, actually 3, given that the hourlong extension to the finale was a last-minute addition. So, it's entirely possible that "Claire flash-forward" was one of the centricities that got left out.

Re: There's No Place Like Home - episode 5/15 discussion
Tue, May 20, 2008 - 7:41 PM<<So I wonder what woke her up? Or if she really is awake!>>
I think the answer to that one is pretty obvious: The Island did. It healed Locke's legs and Rose's cancer. It stopped both Michael and Jack from being able to kill themselves from across an ocean. So, I think it's pretty clear that the Island healed Carole Littleton precisely so that she would be at Christian's funeral and drop her bomb on Jack.
BTW, I'm *still* gape-mouthed at the fact that we actually saw Matt Fox act in that scene. Who was that and what did he do with the real Matthew Fox? :-P -
